UPDATE: NEW VERSION AVAILABLE, USE THE SAME LINK
I don't think there's much question that Winamp is the best music player for Windows. It's more compact than Windows Media Player and has better play list support. It's compatible with just about any format you've got. And it's not bad for system resources either. Most people know by now that Winamp2 is the one to use, Winamp3 is bloated and a system hog. The bad part is, Winamp 2 is pretty ugly and getting old. I've got some good news.. The guys that make Winamp realize nobody likes Winamp3, so they ditched it. Now they're working on Winamp 5, which is based on Winamp2, but upgraded to support the excellent skins created for Winamp3. It's the best of both worlds. Right now it's still in beta, but I've been using it for a couple days and it works great already. There was a bug where it froze on me when I was doing something weird, but in normal use it's all good.
If you wanna give it a try you can get it from FileForum. But remember, it is beta, so if it screws something up, don't yell at me. You can get skins from the Winamp site (personally I like the "Modern" theme that comes with Winamp 5, especially the black and orange Halloween version).
