allSnap & WordWebs
April 24, 2005

Hey.. it's been a while. Here's a couple programs that I've used for a long time. They're not going to change the way you use your computer or anything, but they do offer some minor productivity enhancements.

allSnap is a utility that makes program windows snap to edges. If your monitor supports high resolutions, you probably find that most programs are better suited to be used in windowed mode, rather than maximized. allSnap makes it easier to arrange and line up windows so there's less overlap and inexact positioning. If you're not quite getting it, it's like how Winamp snaps to the edge of the screen when it gets close, except it does that with all program edges.

WordWeb is a dictionary. You can bring the program up at any time using a hotkey (ctrl+alt+w), and if you have a word selected at the time it will automatically look up the definition. It also provides synonyms, antonyms, and more. Sure you can get the same thing from a hundred different web sites, but this is just easier.
